In conjunction with the recently-opened exhibition, PLAINSPOKE of New Hampshire has designed and published a 112-page catalog that documents 45 wishers and regretters (90 photos in all). The catalog is available for purchase at the gallery during open hours, and also online here: http://www.plainspoke.com/parlor/wish-regret.htm
I never get tired of all Matt Ralph's/Plainspoke's gorgeous signage.

I'm gearing up for a show at The Parlor in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this June.
I'm gearing up for a new show of Wish/Regret at The Parlor in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this June. To fit the space and add some new Wish/Regreters to the mix I am dusting off the old Hasselblad and photographing 28 additional people in the coming month. The new mug shots have been honest/insightful/sad/funny/heart-wrenching and once again I am struck by the generosity of everyone that has shown up thus far. So if you you are in the Maine/Mass/New Hampshire area this month and want to give a mug shot a go, give me a yell at lulu329@maine.rr.com
Wishes and Regrets in the AAG show at the George Marshall Store Gallery, May 2010
It's gonna to take me a minute.
9/23/10 Alright, it has taken me forever but I finally scanned some more Wishes and Regrets and added to the project. There are still a few that I screwwed up and have to scan again, but those will be up in a few days..................................
4/10 Stay tuned..............I have only scanned and have up a very small part of the project (and by I, I mean my husband Tim.) We have the worst scanner known to modern man so it takes a while. The rest of the project should be completed soon.
Thanks,
Lauren
ABOUT THE PROJECT
I was nearing the end of the DYMO Project and wanted to work on another large scale photo project and needed a good idea pronto. My friend Simone always comes up with the best ideas so I asked her if she had any to spare. She said, 'Why not 3 Wishes?' That sounded interesting. But how the hell do you photograph one wish never mind three for each person? Right away 3 got whittled down to 1. Smithsonian Magazine had an article on a collector's someone's mugshot archive, I was intrigued. I've always loved the look of mugshots and they seemed like an appropriate vehicle for our wishes. A few mugshots into the project is obvious that the wishes had little of the intimacy of the DYMO thoughts. Too big, too politically correct and altruistic. Granola, granola, granola and more well adjusted granola. It wasn't working. Well what about regrets? Hard to be overly correct with regrets.' A big heartfelt thank you to the 50 plus Wish/Regret participants that showed up and parked themselves in front of the Hassleblad and height chart, stared into the camera and shared something truthful about themselves.
